Brad Nailer – Choosing the best Product

Whatever product we buy, it is but human to expect that we buy the best product that is available in the market. In order to buy the best product it is imperative to have a good understanding of our requirements, our expectations from the product and the cost of the product. Doing some basic research on the internet will help us understand the various tools available in the marketplace and the pros and cons of each model of the tool available in the market.
With regard to brad nailers it is equally important in buying the best of the available products as it is an investment which is expected to serve us for longer periods of time. In order to buy a good brad nailer following are some of the points to be considered.
1.       Purpose of Use
It is important to determine the purpose for which the device will be used. If there is an extensive need of the device, then quality should be a priority over the cost factor. Hence, it is important to ascertain the purpose and the usage of the device.
2.       Air Usage
Sometimes it is good to know the air usage before buying a device because there may be a need to use a compressor for the air supply.
3.       Size & Weight of the Nailer
If the nailer is to be used extensively for longer periods of time, then it is imperative to consider the size and weight of the nailer. Holding a heavy device for longer periods of time may be inconvenient and prove to be detrimental to the work at hand.
4.       Brand Name
The brand of the nailer is equally important as is the nailer itself. A good and reputed brand assures a quality product and also the service and complaint resolution are quicker and accessible. Though brands may be priced slightly higher than the normal ones, it is worth paying the extra amount, in most cases.
5.       Warranty Period
This is important with regard to any trouble to the device. Having a 1 yr. The warranty is good enough to cover for any unexpected damage or fault with the device. Buying a device that has no warranty is as good as not buying the device as the customer will have to suffer due to lack of support from the maker.
6.       Online Reviews
Though this is a part of the research to be conducted before buying the product, this is very important as online reviews will help us buy a better product because not always are the marketing strategies of a company fully true.

While these are some of the guidelines in selecting the right and the best brad nailer, the list is not exhaustive. There may be other factors which will need to be checked before making a purchase in order to ensure that the best product in the market is purchased.

Customers, sometimes, can also take the help of the sales person at the store in understanding the product and its features before making a purchase. This, to some extent, will ensure that the customer purchases a hassle free and trouble- free product.

Brad Nailer – The Benefits of using a Brad Nailer

Woodwork is an art that needs different kinds of tools in order to accomplish a design that has been conceived by the designer. Nails are an important part of the woodwork and there are different varieties of nails that serve different purposes depending on the design and the type of wood being used. Normally nails that have less than 16 gauge are used with a framinghammer because of their size and ease of use while nails that have a gauge of 18 or more are used with a Brad Nailer.

Brad nailers are available as two variants on the marketplace. While one is the electrical variant the other one is the pneumatic variant. The electric variant can be directly attached to the mains power when working with it. The speed of the machine is decent and accomplishes the job perfectly. While this is an advantage, the disadvantage with the electric brad nailer is that the cords prevents it from being used at heights and at locations that are slightly not reachable.

With a pneumatic brad nailer there are no such issues because the nailer uses compressed air to drive the nails into the wooden surface. A set of rechargeable batteries is more than sufficient to create the right amount of pressure when using the brad nailer. By not having a cord, this nailer can be carried wherever desired and it can also be used to reach locations that are uncomfortable or not feasible to reach using the normal electric brad nailer.

The size of the nailer is one more interesting aspect that makes it all the more preferable. The equipment is lightweight and compact in nature, making it very comfortable to be carried around and stored easily. This compact nature coupled with the ease of use has made the brad nailer one of the most preferred nailing device to both amateurs and enthusiasts of the woodwork. While hobbyists are already promoting the device big time, students and amateurs have also joined the promotion bandwagon. One of the primary selection criteria for a nailer is the kind of job being undertaken and the type of nails being used. While a pin hammer is most suitable for a job involving nails without heads, a brad nailer is suitable for use with nails that have a tiny head or are slightly bent in appearance.

By using a brad nailer, the intended work can be completed perfectly avoiding blowouts that are common to woodwork. Blowouts usually spoil the look and feel of the design and present a sore sight to the eyes looking at the end product. Also, for workers having a blowout is discouraging and frustrating. The nail strength also contributes significantly to the blowout phenomenon.

All said and done, brad nailers have gained a lot of acceptance and are being widely used for small woodwork. While these were unheard of devices a few years back, the size, convenience and the features of the device have made it a runaway hit with users. It would not be wrong to say that the day of the brad nailers is not too far away.

Brad Nailer – The small yet Powerful Tool

It is very commonplace to see a lot of woodwork being carried out in newly constructed houses or houses that are under construction. People take extra care to make sure that the woodwork comes out right as it adds a lot of beauty to the interior design and look of the house. Normally hammers are used to drive nails into the wooden joints in order for them to appear neat and clean. But sometimes owing to reasons such as the size of the nail and the dimension of the nail, it may not be possible to use a hammer.

Under such circumstances, there is a need for a special device that can be used to drive the nails into the desired location. Such specialized device is the brad nailer. As the name suggests, this device is used to drive brad nails into wood surfaces. The device is a small handheld device that operates on the mains power. This device is particularly useful to be used in scenarios where the nails either do not have heads or have narrow heads that are positioned in an awkward manner and are difficult to use with a normal hammer.

Brad nailers are basically of two types
1. The electric nailer and
2. The pneumatic nailer

The electric nailer works on the mains power supply in order to shoot the nails into wood surfaces. The pneumatic nailer on the other hand, uses compressed air as a means to generate enough force that can be used to place nails into the wooden surfaces. There are also corded and cordless varieties of brad nailers available in the marketplace. While a corded nailer generates more power, the problem is with the length of the cord. The length of the cord prevents users from reaching difficult spots or points at a height. While this is a drawback, the corded nailer provides more power when compared to the cordless nailer. The main advantage of a cordless nailer is that it can be used to reach points at a height and difficult to reach locations.

The brad nailer is primarily used on small woodwork projects as the unit is light in weight and easy to use. Sometimes the brad nailer is also used in large woodwork projects in order to add more details to the design. The main reason for workers preferring the brad nailer is that it completely eliminates the use of clamps which are essential when driving in nails. With a little glue, the brad nailer fixes the nails into the desired location without much effort and also very accurately. This unique capability of the nailer completely eliminates the need for a clamp in order to hold the nails in position.

The brad nailer, of late, has been gaining a lot of prominence owing to the convenience and the safety factor. It ensures a clean and neat job with high levels of safety that is not offered by a normal hammer. It is widely available in all hardware stores and leading brands are also manufacturing this small tool that has revolutionized the way wood work is done.

How it all began?

The first time I got acquainted to carpentry was some two years ago. I was watching this program on TV about a team that redecorated a house for this one couple. They were amazing! How they managed to use up all the space and not make the room seem crowded. Ideas they all had, how to make this and that in order to ease the living in small apartment was wonderful to watch.

And it gave me an idea. My room was quite smallish at the time. Only the wardrobe and the bed were able to fit in it. There was some space for a coffee table, but I couldn’t find to buy an appropriate one to fit my needs. So I decided to get down to business and me a table that suits me.

I got the idea to try using a pallet for my future table. So I found a decent one and started. I cannot say honestly that I was completely happy with is look in the end :) but it could easily fit in my bedroom and its purpose. The next ones I made were rather better in quality as well as in looks :)

My neighbor, Tod, was also interested in this practical kind of a hobby, so we joined our forces and made some very beautiful things by now. I’ll see to take some photos of our work so far. He added some great input in our projects, seeing that he already had some previous knowledge about carpentry. He had some great advice as to how to do this or that the better way, as well as what tools to use. It was his idea to try using brad nailers in order to make the final piece look nice, without any damage to the wood or the nail.

This hobby allows me to combine fun and practical; to keep my hands busy, as well as to enjoy in the fruits of my work. I believe, there’s nothing quite like it!

Feel free to contribute with your fun and practical ideas here. Share some of your work; let us comment on it – I’m sure it will significantly improve of your next projects. I look forward to hearing your comments on my proudest designs.

Why brad nailers?

First of all they are really easy to work with, and they allow you to produce whatever you have imagined in your head! You can’t make a mistake if you use them properly and of course if you got one of great quality.
Brad nailers are small, but powerful tools, so if you’re working with wood, it might be just what you were looking for to ease your work. It is smallish, so it easily gets in your hand. You will find that you can easily do any delicate work with nails and wood with this little tool.
I got mine for handling those tricky nails which don’t have a head. Anyone who has ever worked with these knows just how tricky it can be. It is easy to damage or bend the nail and the final product looks awful, if you don’t use the proper tools.
I have dedicated this blog to brad nailers for just one particular reason – they offer enormous possibilities to carpenters, and they are more and more in use today, so I want to show you how to find the best one, for a reasonable price, and to share with you various ways you can use it to create whatever you wish.
Of course, I would like to welcome everybody with the interests and experience of working with brad nailers to give us all new inspiration for new creations. Let this be the place where we will all share our furniture (or general carpentry)-related ideas.

Currently I’m working on a big shelve for a friend, who intends to install it in his shed for various heavy tools and materials. He wants it to be made of nutwood and I’m half way to finish it at the moment. I hope to share with you the results in several days and to hear your opinions about it. I hope it will be finished by next week!
